Mutts & Co. opened its doors in December of 2007 in response to the need for a full-service specialty pet retailer that recognized the importance placed on pets as family members. We provide a place that serves as a complete “wellness center” for pets.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and oversee all in-store operations to achieve sales, service, organization, customer satisfaction, and profitability goals for the store.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with staff, customers, partners, and HQ.
  • Ensure store compliance and personal follow through of all Mutts & Co. policies and procedures.
  • Always actively identifying, recruiting, hiring, and training to ensure retention of a diverse, talented, qualified, and smart group of people and pet loving team members.
  • Drive store success, working with the store leadership team to ensure that all sales, department, and overarching store goals and performance indicators are met and exceeded.
  • Analyze store-level reports and identify new strategies for maximizing results, reporting information to staff and upper management.
  • Define and communicate new strategies for sales and profit growth within the store team, and then put them into place, monitoring and reporting on effectiveness.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy is maintained every day, in every way.
  • Oversee, special orders and merchandise returns, transfers, and shipments.
  • Take personal responsibility for store profitability, financial budgeting, managing labor costs, and overall store level expenses to meet store performance goals and budgets.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of premium specialty retail store leadership.
  • Highly skilled in strategic planning and juggling daily responsibilities.
  • Able to wear many hats—coach, leader, partner, and friend.
  • Drive success by leading your team to perform and take personal responsibility.
  • Goal oriented with an entrepreneurial spirit and an eye for opportunity.

Compensation/Schedule

  • $40,000-45,000 DOE

We create an exceptional customer experience by informing customers about our products and assisting them with their pet purchases.  We're looking for an Assistant Store Manager to join our team of fellow dog and cat lovers in the Greater Columbus area!

At Mutts & Co, you'll have the opportunity to educate pet parents and your team about animal nutrition and how to maintain a healthy and active pet lifestyle. You will support the Store Manager by working with and coaching the team to achieve new personal bests in customer experience and sales conversion rates through product training and education.

What will you do?

  • Drive store success by working with the store leadership team to ensure that all sales and performance metrics are met and exceeded.
  • Lead from the front by personally engaging with customers to demonstrate benchmark levels of customer experience and sales conversion rates.
  • Perform assigned operation procedures including special orders, reporting, ordering, scheduling, etc.
  • Lead training and development of retail staff in focal areas like customer experience and product knowledge.
  • Be a leader in implementing product placement, visual merchandising and product presentation standards.
  • Engage all team members to maintain high standards in service and store upkeep.
  • Monitor and resolve customer experience and customer service-related concerns including special order status and manage customer communications accordingly.

Pet retail experience is a bonus, but not necessary, as we provide all of our pack members with in store training. This enables them to educate our customers and how to build and boost their pet's food bowls. You will also need to meet the requirements of our Delivery Driver Agreement.

Mutts & Co is looking to add to our amazing staff of dog bathers in an effort to keep up with the demand for our professional services. This is a great opportunity for somebody who wants a stable, well-paying job in a solid working environment. We provide great customer service which has resulted in a solid grooming business. 

You work in a kennel-free environment and in a private grooming space with electric tables and the Bather Box bathing system. The bathing team members get their own client base. All services are done by appointment only. 

What can you expect from a position in our grooming department? The opportunity to work in a clean and safe grooming environment with clients who value the people that take care of their pets. You receive an hourly pay rate plus the opportunity to earn generous tips.

  • The most ideal applicant would have daytime and weekend availability and some evening availability
  • The most ideal applicant is knowledgeable about all breeds
  • You must be professional, pleasant and take pride in your work
  • You must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • You must have excellent customer service and communication skills
  • You must be team oriented and keep your space as well as shared spaces clean and sanitized

Mutts & Co is looking to add to our amazing staff of groomers in an effort to keep up with the demand for our professional services. This is a great opportunity for somebody who wants a stable, well-paying job in a solid working environment. We are W2-based with commission compensation plus gratuity (cash and credit card). We provide great customer service which has resulted in a solid grooming business. You work in a kennel-free environment and in a private grooming space with electric tables and the Bather Box bathing system. All services are done by appointment only and should be rebooked by you at customer pick up.
