Customer Release and Hold Harmless Agreement
Caring for your pets is a responsibility that we take very seriously at Mutts & Co. We want your pet’s experience here to be as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. It is important, however, to understand that some pets respond to grooming differently, even with the best efforts, and we cannot be held responsible for the possible stressful affects that grooming may have on your pet or the unforeseen pre-existing conditions that may arise and exacerbate symptoms associated with skin allergies, shampoo allergies, moles, clipper sensitivity, seizures, bone or joint sensitivity, etc.
Allergies and Sensitivities: Your dog’s safety and comfort is our primary concern. Please advise us of any allergies, sensitivities, or pre-existing medical conditions so we can avoid aggravating these situations. Please let us know of any prior grooming history you or your dog may not have found satisfactory. We want to avoid the repetition of poor or unpleasant experiences or situations. Mutts & Co. understands that some dogs are extremely sensitive to certain grooming procedures such as nail trimming and/or ear cleaning. It is not our intent to cause your dog discomfort, so although these are routine procedures normally performed for the well-being of the pet(s), we will not continue with any grooming procedure that will cause pain, discomfort to the pet(s) or harm to the groomer. Sometimes, for a more sensitive dog, these procedures are best left to the care of a veterinarian. Mutts & Co./Mutts & Co. staff groomer will be held harmless from damage, loss or claims arising from any known or unknown pre-existing condition of the pet(s). The terms, special services or handling shall include but are not limited to veterinary emergency services in the event that the client is not available. Client authorizes the groomer to act as his/her agent in the event emergency veterinarian services, boarding, care-taking, and/or transportation is necessary and agrees to pay all costs. Any/all damages or claims shall include but not be limited to advanced age, extreme nervousness, neurosis, illness, previous injury, skin or coat conditions or other medical conditions.
Injury due to skin and coat neglect: Mutts & Co. will not be held responsible for clipper burn, minor nicks and cuts, or irritation resulting from grooming of matted or neglected coats, or pets possessing mild to severe skin allergies (including ears).
Grooming of senior pets: Senior pets are prone to problems that are often exacerbated by the stressful process of grooming. While we take extra care with senior pets, problems such as bruising of the skin, joint/ligament injury that is attributable to the stress that lengthy periods of standing puts on deteriorating joints/ligaments, disorientation and/or extreme fatigue which could lead to heart problems or even death are all risks inherent in grooming senior pets.
Failure to notify us of any existing or previous medical issues increases the level of risk during the grooming process.
Grooming the senior pet may require multiple short appointments to complete. It may also become necessary to stop the grooming process completely if the pet is exhibiting signs of stress. Additional risk is attributable to the grooming of senior pets that are not groomed as often as is necessary to maintain the skin & coat. Excessive undercoat and matting may result in the need for multiple appointments.
We strive to keep the senior pet comfortable and safe, which means that the end result of the grooming service may not be as expected. Mutts & Co. will not be held responsible for the discomfort, injury or any post-service stress that may affect the senior pet.
Shave Down Authorization: Shave Down authorization is given in the event that, after a thorough evaluation of your pet’s coat, the grooming staff determines that a shave down is the best recourse for grooming your pet. This decision is made based on the stress and discomfort it would cause your pet if we were to attempt to brush or groom their coat. During a shave down, even with special care given to safety, it is possible for your pet to be nicked or cut or get razor burn. Your signature acknowledges that you are aware of the risks, releases Mutts & Co. from any responsibility for any trauma to the pet as a result of the shave down and authorizes a shave down if it is deemed necessary by the grooming staff.
Protection from aggressive behaviors: In the event that your pet displays any aggressive behaviors, the groomer reserves the right to use a soft muzzle or Elizabethan collar to protect from injury.
Compensation Claims: Mutts & Co. will be notified of any claims by owner regarding compensation for veterinary care given as a result of alleged negligence on their part within 48 hours. In the event they dispute the claim, Mutts & Co. will personally consult the veterinarian prior to any settlement.
Additional Fees: Mutts & Co. reserves the right to charge additional fees for services they consider over and above the norm covered by their standard rates. Examples: severe aggression or severely neglected coats. They also reserve the right to refuse service to customers whose pet may pose a threat to them or other pets left in their care. Examples: severe aggression and parasite infestations.
